Recycled materials in premium cars? This has been a matter of course for us for a long time! Since 2014, Nexans autoelectric has been designing proprietary wire harness components that contain recycled plastics – currently around 24%, with a target of increasing.
This allows us to save valuable resources, reduce the CO2 footprint of our products, and still make no compromise when it comes to performance and durability.
Strong second life – resource-efficient
Our components made from recycled materials are in no way inferior to primary raw materials – neither visually nor functionally. Their origin from materials such as women's tights or fishing nets remains invisible, but their performance is intensively tested: temperatures of over 200 °C in the engine compartment, vibrations, and long periods of use in the vehicle place the highest demands on them.
Thanks to innovative testing procedures – both virtual and real – we ensure the quality that distinguishes our cable harness components.
Climate Protection is Teamwork
Cooperating closely with customers and material manufacturers, our technicians and engineers focus on sustainability in the development of technical thermoplastics. Thanks to our database of over 60 recyclate plastics tested by us, we can select the perfect material for each and every application.
Safety first: Although modern recycling processes ensure high material quality, we use proprietary methods to carefully test every recycled component for suitability.
Our goal is to continuously increase the proportion of recycled material – supported by innovative ideas and strong partnerships. Because we believe that climate protection is teamwork.
