Working Together for the Region: Nexans autoelectric Donates 3,000 Euros to the Weiden-Neustadt Food Bank

Floß, February 23, 2026. Every Thursday, the Weiden-Neustadt Food Bank’s delivery van stops in Floß. On one side of the street, food is distributed to registered recipients; on the opposite side stands the headquarters of the Nexans autoelectric Group. Support begins right here, on our own doorstep.

One more reason for the Upper Palatinate automotive supplier to support the food bank again last year. The company donated 3,000 euros—for the fifth time in the last ten years.

The donation was earmarked for the purchase of laundry detergent. A product that is urgently needed but rarely donated, report Rainer Sindersberger, chairman of the food bank, and Diana Hermann, managing director of the association.
Around 70 volunteers keep the food bank running. Currently, about 1,500 recipients are registered—often representing entire families or multi-person households. Overall, significantly more people are being served, about half of whom are children. At the same time, the number of older people in need of support is also rising.

The food bank is responding with a new initiative: a neighborhood project for seniors will launch in February. Older people with limited mobility will receive food deliveries directly to their homes.

In addition to the food distribution, the food bank also opened a social department store at its office in Weiden last year. There, registered recipients can find everything they need for daily life—including the laundry detergent funded by Nexans autoelectric.
Support doesn’t come solely from companies. Donations of goods from private individuals are also welcome at any time.

In total, the Nexans autoelectric Group donated 16,000 euros in 2025 to four regional organizations: the Weiden-Neustadt Food Bank, the local volunteers of the Bavarian Red Cross, the Protestant Floß Kindergarten, and the East Bavarian Pediatric Palliative Care Team at Amberg Hospital.
