Sonia Carolina Chavez Arenas – Junior Product Engineer

Before I began working at Elektrokontakt, I knew hardly anything about the inner workings of cars. Now I know how much technical expertise is involved behind the scenes, and that our wiring harnesses perform quite an important function.

When I first started at Elektrokontakt I had little to do with the technology. After qualifying as an industrial engineer, I began as an intern in the logistics department at our site in Piedras Negras. I like to learn, so, after a few months, the offer to move into quality control on the production line seemed very appealing to me.

Excellent product development is a prerequisite for excellent product quality
The expertise and experience I was able to gain from that were good preparation for my current job in product development. From my time in the quality control department I brought with me the knowledge that good product design has a significant influence on the manufacturing process and on the quality of our wiring harnesses.

My role is multifaceted and I work with various design and planning tools. To me, the most interesting thing is finding the right solutions to the diverse requirements of wiring harness design.

Continuing education is standard
Among the possibilities for further professional training, I find the English courses particularly good. They advance me both professionally and personally.
