Nexans autoelectric counts on 48 volts technology

Floß, January 2018. Car manufacturers are counting more and more on the 48 volts vehicle electrical system as a further voltage level in the vehicle to supply additional electrical consumers with power and to save assembly space as well as CO2.

Wiring Harnesses for vehicles with a 48 volts electrical system
Nexans autoelectric was able to acquire a third order for vehicles with a 48 volts vehicle electrical system. Precisely it refers to the wiring of a DC/DC converter, which is used in conjunction with the 48 volts vehicle electrical system. While the first two orders were from a significant German car manufacturer, the newest business transaction was with a leading module manufacturer. This signifies a strengthening of the market position with this sustainable technology for Upper Palatinate automotive supplier.

Following an approximately two year development time, the first cables will be employed in series in vehicles at the end of 2019.

In addition to the application in conventionally driven vehicles, the 48 volts vehicle electrical system could become a key technology in the field of E-mobility – especially in plug-in hybrid vehicles – as well. Nexans autoelectric has established itself as a supplier for high voltage wire harnesses for several years now.
