New site in Mexico for further growth

Elektrokontakt Mexico is part of the Nexans autoelectric of America business unit, which was founded in 2001 in order to serve the North American market. Two thousand employees in the USA and Mexico work for this independent operation, specialized in wire harness production for automotive and commercial vehicles in the Americas. This plant joins more than 20 production facilities in the Nexans autoelectric group, located in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. In 2017 the company reached sales of about 96 million USD with numerous innovative projects planned for the future.

Due to the acquisition of new projects and expected continued growth of sales, it was necessary for EKM to develop a new production facility.  Piedras Negras was chosen due to the high level of security presence and safety as well as the economic growth of the city. The proximity to EKMs trained employees did also positively influence the decision for Piedras Negras.

The new facility is located on a 58,600 square meter area of land in the elevated part of the city, thus avoiding the risk of potential flooding, and close to the international bridge main highway.  Available production floor space is 10,500 square meters and the plant integrates a 6,000 square meter warehouse.  The new facility  includes 1,800 square meters of plant office space, and a 2,500 square meter, two level building, where the employees working not specifically for one of EKM´s production plants will be located.
